Nicki Minaj Soon To Be Named One Of The New Judges On American Idol

It looks like Mariah Carey may finally have some company at the “American Idol” judges’ table.

As has been widely rumored, Nicki Minaj will soon be announced as a new judge on the FOX reality series, multiple sources have reportedly told Us Weekly.

Despite no official confirmation from “Idol” or FOX, one source said the outlandish “Super Bass” singer is “100% confirmed” while another told the mag Nicki is “definitely doing it.”
In addition, a source who spoke on condition of anonymity told the Associated Press that a deal between Nicki and “Idol” was in the works.

Reps for FOX and Nicki were not immediately available for comment on the report when contacted by Access Hollywood on Monday.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Mariah Carey was officially announced as a new “Idol” judge in July, during the FOX presentation at the Television Critics Association summer tour in Beverly Hills.

“I am so excited to be judging ‘Idol,’” Mariah said through FOX boss Kevin Reilly’s speakerphone during the presentation.

Also rumored to be joining the judges’ table for the upcoming season is Nick Jonas – who not surprisingly has the backing of fellow Jonas brother Joe.

“I hope so… I think he would be great at it,” Joe Jonas said last week on Access Hollywood Live, when asked about the possibility of Nick joining “Idol.”

Nick, himself, also confirmed he was a potential candidate to fill the empty judge’s seat.

“The rumors are true… I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens,” Nick Tweeted on August 4.

The incoming stars would replace the departed judges – Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez – on the show.

There has been no comment from FOX yet on the fate of original judge Randy Jackson, although it’s been rumored he may step away from the judges’ table and take on a mentor’s capacity on the show.

Season 12 of “American Idol” debuts this winter on FOX.
